Robots in the Swiss mountains 🏔️🤖

Maxwell Robotics was invited to join the launch event marking the inauguration of the Edelweiss Innovation & Intelligence Institute (EIII) AG in Leukerbad, Switzerland.

Making robotics tangible — outside the lab

For the event, we brought a small lineup of robots to show what modern robotics looks like up close and in the real world:

  • Wheeled and legged platforms, including PUMA (wheeled quadruped) and Tron1 (biped)

  • Robotic arms, including LeRobot

  • Additional systems and demo setups to highlight different capabilities and interaction modes

What stood out most wasn’t a spec sheet, a benchmark, or a performance metric.

It was people’s reactions.

In the middle of a quiet Alpine mountain town, locals and tourists stopped to watch, asked questions, and started conversations. Phones went up, curiosity kicked in, and robotics suddenly felt less like “something from a lab” and more like something real and accessible.

Why this matters

Moments like this are a reminder that robotics shouldn’t be confined to research environments. The real value appears when people can see it, touch it, and understand what it could enable, in everyday contexts.

Robots belong in the real world, in workplaces, public spaces, schools, and—apparently—mountain towns too.

Building connections in Switzerland

Beyond the public demos, the event was also a great opportunity to connect with the Swiss robotics ecosystem, meet new partners, and explore potential collaborations for what’s next.

One thing is clear: there’s a lot more robotics coming to Leukerbad.

Your take?

Where do you think robots should show up next: schools, public spaces, workplaces… or somewhere even more unexpected?
